2008 Pinot Blanc ~ $18.00 (SOLD OUT)
Island View Vineyard, Old Mission Peninsula

I was having a glass (maybe it was three) with Pinot Blanc grower Werner Keuhnis and he showed me this piece he made for his tool and die apprenticeship. It was entirely crafted by hand and consisted of three different metals. The threads, slip joints, knobs and bevels were all cut by his hands. No machines needed! It will be featured on future labels indeed.

Attention to detail bleeds through in this man's life and definitely into his vineyard. The 2008 is a reflection of precision. The fruit was perfectly exposed to the sun and it developed classic Blanc flavors...ripe pears. Think golden when you taste this wine - like soft, gritty pears on a warm fall day.

The acid though cannot be dismissed. It's electric. It's that spark of static shock you get after shuffling across the carpet to kiss your girl. Surprising but appropriate.

Like all Island View vintages it is very limited and will be gone before we have had a chance to let everyone know how great this variety is. Buy 6 today - drink 3 this summer and 3 next summer to compare against the 2009s.
