The Trip...
...falling into place.

"Left Foot Charley is a relatively new winery in Traverse City, Michigan. Owner/winemaker Bryan Ulbrich has spent the last decade feeding an obsession around Northern Michigan's fantastic white wines. In that time he has crafted some of the most acclaimed wines East of that other Left Coast - you know they call it Cali-something- they grow great avocados there. Anyway...

In 2004, he helped rejuvenate a friend's struggling Riesling vineyard and created 200 cases of his first wine under the LFC label. He and his wife, Jennifer, have created Northern Michigan's first urban winery in the center of the historic Northern Michigan Asylum now known as The Village. Ulbrich is quietly gathering the region's top small vineyards and is showcasing them in the new facility which has been open since July 2007.

Traverse City may be out of reach for many of you but for those with the gumption to find it, seek out this winery. They have plenty of flavor to share."
